WEEKLY CHALLENGE MAKES A HEALTHY 2015 A BREEZE

My Body Village Asks Children & Families to Make Commitment to Health

Torrance, CA–December 30, 2014–With the New Year quickly approaching, many people find themselves setting new health conscious goals for 2015. Children’s book author and certified nutrition coach, Justin Noble, offers a solution to help get kids involved in the healthy spirit with the My Body Village Weekly Challenge. This is a free feature offered on the new My Body Village website, MyBodyVillage.com.

Some healthy New Year’s resolutions suggested by the American Academy of Pediatrics include healthy habits like brushing teeth twice a day, and washing hands after going to the bathroom. For older kids, some suggestions are drinking water every day, drinking soda and fruit drinks only as special treats, eating fruits and vegetables daily, and practicing the idea of taking a break with things like reading or exercise when they feel stressed.1 These are some examples of the types of challenges that will appear on the My Body Village Weekly Challenge over the course of the year.

The earlier a child begins healthy habits, the more likely they are to grow into healthy adults.  A Harvard University study suggests, “Health in the earliest years… lays the groundwork for a lifetime of well-being.”2  It’s never too early to get your child interested in health and wellness, not only for your child but also for society on the whole. The same study finds, “A vital and productive society…is built on a foundation of healthy child development.” This includes healthy lifestyle and relationships, both physically and mentally.

One way to encourage this early development is to practice strengthening healthy choices as a family.  Thus, exposing children to wellness through health education, and reinforcing the closeness of family relationship by practicing these New Year’s Resolutions together.

Premiering January 1st 2015, the My Body Village Weekly Challenge, on MyBodyVillage.com, encourages a new healthy habit every week, and provides a chart to track progress, which can be turned in to receive a prize for a job well done. It asks children and parents to make a commitment to their health. Getting children to make healthy choices is not always easy, but it is easier to achieve if the child is an active participant in this effort. An easy way for parents to implement a healthy New Year’s Resolution for their children for 2015 would be to set the goal to complete every task on the My Body Village Weekly Challenge throughout the year.

My Body Village Weekly Challenge Seeks to Make Healthy Choices Fun

Torrance, CA–January 20, 2015—Right around this time of year, many people have already abandoned the health conscious goals they set on New Year’s Day. With holiday vacations over and kids back in school, new commitments and responsibilities take precedence. Many families find they just don’t have the time or energy to keep their New Year’s resolutions a priority. Children’s book author and certified nutrition coach, Justin Noble, offers an easy way for families to stay committed to a healthier lifestyle all year long, with the My Body Village Weekly Challenge.

A free feature offered on MyBodyVillage.com, this challenge sets small attainable goals for children and families to achieve every week. No preparation is required. Just visit the website each week, and follow the instructions given for that week’s challenge. Besides being a step in a healthy direction, each challenge comes with a small lesson about fitness, nutrition, or the way the human body works.

It’s never too early to get your child interested in health and wellness, not only for your child but also for society on the whole. The Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University asserts, “A vital and productive society…is built on a foundation of healthy child development.” This includes healthy lifestyle and relationships, both physically and mentally. The earlier a child begins healthy habits, the more likely they are to grow into healthy adults.

One way to encourage this early development is to practice strengthening healthy choices as a family. Thus, exposing children to wellness through health education, and reinforcing the closeness of the family relationship. As an adult, it’s easy to find excuses for making the less healthy choice, but if the whole family is involved it provides support and encouragement. For children, the healthy choice does not always seem like fun, but the My Body Weekly Challenge seeks to change that. This challenge is something that the whole family can enjoy doing together.
